RE:Flex in action, in one of RE:Vision Effects’ tutorial videos. Version 5 of the morphing and warping tool for After Effects now supports GPU acceleration, offering a speed boost of up to three times over the CPU alone.

RE:Vision Effects has released RE:Flex 5 for After Effects, the latest version of its morphing and warping plugin, adding the option to accelerate rendering with the aid of the GPU.

RE:Flex uses a spline-based 2D warping system that makes use of After Effects’ own drawing and masking tools, and offers both manual feature-matching and automated image alignment for morphing.

Accelerated by most GPUs, including laptop cards
RE:Vision Effects claims that a high-end GPU can provide a speed boost of up to three times over CPU mode. However, since Re:Flex 5 is OpenCL-based, you can use pretty much any GPU, including many laptop cards.

The plugin is also available for Fusion, but so far, only the After Effects version is GPU-accelerated.

Pricing and availability
RE:Flex 5 is available for After Effects CS5 and above. To make use of GPU acceleration, you’ll need to be running Windows 7+ or Mac OS X 10.7+. The full version costs $595; a render-only licence costs $119.
